The week of SQE1 has arrived, and whether you’re feeling calm, panicked, or somewhere in between, the most important thing you can do now is shift into a focused, strategic mindset.
Here are some key reminders and practical tips to help you make the most of these final few days.

You don’t need to learn anything new
This is the biggest trap students fall into in the final stretch. You start second-guessing your preparation, panicking that you haven’t memorised every last exception or niche point.
But the reality is that the SQE1 is designed to assess core understanding and application, not obscure facts. Now is the time to consolidate and sharpen, not cram.

Start with structure
If you haven’t already mapped out your days, do it now. Allocate blocks of time for:
- Reviewing topics you already know but want to firm up
- Practising SBAQs (no more than 10–20 in one sitting)
- Rest and recovery
Too many students try to revise everything one more time and end up overwhelmed. Instead, focus on what will build your confidence.
Make SBAQs your main tool
Practising questions under time pressure is the single best thing you can do at this stage.
- Use the SRA sample questions and any reliable practice sets
- Read the lead-in question first so you know what to look for in the fact pattern
- Reflect on why the right answer is right – and why the others aren’t
If you don’t have access to good-quality SBAQs, check out the practice questions on our website.
Protect your focus
In these final days, it’s not just about what you revise – it’s about how you manage your energy and confidence.
- Get fresh air, move your body, and eat proper meals
- Avoid social media debates and second-guessing other people’s prep
- Visualise success: walk yourself through the exam in your mind and imagine staying calm and focused
On the day
- Arrive early and bring the correct ID and equipment
- Keep a steady pace – don’t rush, but don’t dwell too long either
- Trust your preparation. You don’t need perfection. You just need to pass.
Final thoughts
You’ve worked hard to get to this point. Now your job is to keep your head clear and your confidence steady. Remember, this exam is about judgment and strategy as much as it is about knowledge.
Wishing every SQE1 candidate the very best of luck this week.
