SQE1 Booking Window: What You Need to Know Before Reserving Your Seat

The January 2026 SQE1 exams may feel a long way off, but the booking process starts very soon – and there are a few important steps you must complete before you can even reserve your seat.

To make sure you don’t miss out, here’s a clear breakdown of what you need to know.

Step 1: Complete your pre-booking steps

Before you can reserve a seat, you must:

✅ Register for the SQE on the My SQE Overview page
✅ Verify your ID
✅ Complete the pre-booking questions (including the Monitoring and Maximising Diversity Survey and the section on reasonable adjustments)

⚠️ If you don’t complete these steps in time, you won’t receive the seat reservation form and you won’t be able to book a place.

Step 2: Reserve your seat

Once the pre-booking steps are done, you’ll receive a seat reservation form by email.

Key dates:

  • 15 September 2025, from 6pm — reservation forms sent out by email
  • 18 September 2025, 5pm — deadline to submit your form

If you need (or might need) reasonable adjustments, you must also complete this reservation form.

Why it matters

SQE1 is sat by thousands of candidates across the country, and seats at certain test centres can fill quickly. Missing a step or missing the deadline could mean waiting until July 2026 to sit the exam.

By getting your pre-booking steps sorted now, you’ll avoid last-minute stress and secure your place.

Final thoughts

Booking your SQE1 exam is just the start, but it’s a crucial one. Make sure you:

  • Double-check your SQE account today
  • Complete all pre-booking steps before 15 September
  • Look out for your seat reservation form and submit it by the 18 September deadline
